Motorola wins Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade
Updated:2008/5/12 13:58
Motorola, Inc. Thursday announces that its Point-to-Point Fixed Wireless Solutions Group has been recognized by the Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
The Queens Award acknowledges outstanding achievement by companies in the UK and is given solely on merit. Motorola won the International Trade award for the commercial success of its innovative point-to-point wireless broadband solutions. Motorola has tripled its overseas sales since 2000. Exporting to 121 countries, it has sold over 90 per cent of its production overseas, earning export revenue totalling 57 million over three years. This achievement is reflected in the companys remarkably swift penetration and worldwide growth in wireless solutions, and in a marketing approach that has established a two-tier system of distributors and integrators in target markets over a very short period. We are delighted to win such a prestigious award and to be recognized for our established presence in the international trading market, said Phil Bolt, general manager, senior director, Motorola Wireless Broadband Engineering and Product Management. The award is a reflection of Motorolas innovation in wireless broadband communications and is further testament to our leadership in delivering broadband everywhere. The technologies developed by the group, based in Ashburton, UK, provide governments, businesses, and service providers with exceptionally high data rates and high levels of availability when using wireless broadband connectivity in situations that were previously impossible. It is a great honour for Motorola to be recognized by the Queens Award for the ninth time, said Sir David Brown, chairman Motorola Ltd. The division has enjoyed tremendous success in the international market and we look forward to further growth in the future. This first award for International Trade follows on from the groups success in achieving a Queens Award for Innovation in 2007.
