Russia''s largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has signed an agreement with U.S.'' telecom equipment producer
Motorola to upgrade its mobile network in the Moscow Licensed Area (MLA), the two companies said in a joint press release Thursday.

MTS is the largest mobile operator in Russia and Central and Eastern Europe and is licensed to provide services over an area with a total population of 233.1 million people. The company''s subscriber base in the MLA amounted to 11.053 million users as of October 31, according to Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M).
