Updated:2017/4/5 16:01

China Telecom and China Unicom recently held a conference to push "broadband network speed increase and tariff cut" and all-network 6-mode handset.

6 modes refer to GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, FDD and TDD. China Telecom and China Unicom jointly issued the All-Network 6-Mode Device White Paper in December 2015 to push all-network mobile phones and released the nationwide standards of all-network six-mode handsets in April 2016, which is the key to "broadband network speed increase and tariff cut" provement in China.

Gao Tongqing, vice general manager of China Telecom said at the conference that all-network phone has been accepted by China's three major telecom operators, customers and vendors after the standard for it came out, and caught 75 percent of the market share, up rapidly from 20 percent in 2015 and expected to reach 80 percent in 2017.

The Chinese and foreign vendors have released nearly 700 models of all-network six-mode handsets so far in China.

Mr. Gao and Shao Guanglu, vice general manager of China Unicom reviewed the success the two giants have obtained.

With all-network 6-mode phones, mobile phone users can choose the operator independently. The all-network mobile phone sales have accounted for 75 percent of the market, rising from 20 percent in 2015. Meanwhile, the expenditure of customers buying 4G handsets in 2016 was down by CNY18 billion, which means all-network handset has brought customers with benefits.

In addition, GCF has adopted and been driving all-network six-mode as the global standard of mobile phone.
