Xiaomi Joins GSMA to Contribute to Industry Standardization

Updated:2017/3/17 13:27

Leading technology company Xiaomi announced today that it has joined as an associate member of the London-based global mobile operators' trade association, the GSMA, to help driving the adoption and interoperability of new technologies.

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Lei Jun based on the vision "innovation for everyone", with the belief that high-quality products built with cutting-edge technology should be made accessible to everyone. Its product range currently includes Mi and Redmi smartphones, Mi TVs and set-top boxes, Mi routers, and Mi Ecosystem products including smart home products, wearables and other accessories.

The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with almost 300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers and internet companies, as well as organisations in adjacent industry sectors. The GSMA also produces industry-leading events such as Mobile World Congress, Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Mobile World Congress Americas and the Mobile 360 Series of conferences.

With such a wide range of products, Xiaomi has business units covering devices, virtual SIM, eSIM, and Internet of Things among others. As an associate member of the GSMA, Xiaomi will play an important role in contributing its expertise across these segments for industry standardization.
