Huawei denied the rumor of massive layoffs

Recently, there have been rumors that Huawei will have a massive layoffs, some news even said that it would lay off 50,000 staffs. However, according to the information that Nanfang Daily has learnt from Huawei, it doesn’t have any layoff plans at present and the rumors are not true.

The layoff rumor of Huawei emerged at the end of September, which said Huawei has made a layoff plan with the goal to control its employees within 150,000 people and 20,000 people are involved in merely the Carrier Network BG. However, relevant person in charge of Huawei denied this rumor.

At present, Huawei has about 170,000 employees globally. It is reported that the internal personnel adjustment of Huawei is mainly to eliminate some of the unqualified employees and introduce more cost-effective talents.

In the past few years, Huawei’s revenue continued to increase. In the first half of this year, its sales revenue reached CNY 175.9 billion, the growth rate reached 30% and the operating profit rate was 18%, it is expected that the annual sales revenue of 2015 will be close to CNY 400 billion. An industry insider said, judging from Huawei’s performance in 1H2015, although the operator market was not good, it has become better and better in general and the personnel changes that its internal departments adjustments brought should not be regarded as a massive layoffs.
