Over 1,000 Global Carriers and ICT Partners Convene at Huawei Cloud Congress 2015

Updated:2015/9/18 17:54

Huawei today hosted its first Global Carrier Keynote at Huawei Cloud Congress 2015 (HCC 2015) in Shanghai. Bringing together top-tier global carriers and industry organizations, the Forum will focus on accelerating digital transformation through open collaboration and innovation. During the conference participants will also gain insights into carrier transformation success stories, as well as the opportunity to visit a large carrier business exhibition hall showcasing live solution demonstrations and innovations from Huawei and its partners.

With consumers demanding more personalized and innovative digital services, a superior user experience is becoming critical to global carrier success. Encompassing five fundamental characteristics – Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social –"ROADS" encapsulates Huawei’s definition and vision for the ultimate user experience. Carriers need to continuously enhance their business agility to harness the disruption brought about by the Internet and create commercial value from the “long tail” of the digital business. This requires carriers to fundamentally change their strategy and management framework, shifting from the traditional carrier-centric model of “network–operation–user experience” to the user-experience-centric model of “user experience–operation–network”.

Zou Zhilei, President of Carrier Business Group, shared Huawei’s strategy for carriers’ digital transformation during his opening speech at the Forum.

“Carriers will continue focusing on pipe business for the foreseeable future. The strong and reliable communications service business is the foundation for carriers’ business growth. At the same time, we are increasingly seeing carriers develop their digitization strategies in three ways: continuing to lead the smart pipe business, becoming an integrated platform provider and actively participating in user application development and content creation,” said Zou Zhilei, President of Carrier Business Group, Huawei. “Cloud computing plays an important role in carriers’ digital transformation as it enables carriers to transform IT from a supporting system to a production system and an enabling platform. We advocate a comprehensive cloud strategy for carriers’ businesses, operations and networks. Leveraging Huawei’s Service-Driven Distributed Cloud Data Center (SD-DC2) and Telco OS, Huawei will enable carriers to realize cloud-based agile business operations and offer innovative cloud services to governments and enterprises worldwide.”

Approximately 1,000 carriers and industry partners from 75 countries will attend HCC 2015. Deutsch Telecom, Vodafone and China Telecom will share their best practices and success stories in public clouds, hybrid clouds and e-government clouds. In addition, representatives from industry organizations, such as OpenStack and TM Forum, will share their insights on current telecom industry trends.

In addition to the Forum, a 1,000-square meter exhibition hall will showcase solutions and technologies that enable carriers to realize an open network, agile business and smooth digital evolution. There are also joint exhibitions and demos by Huawei and its customers and partners to show how a collaborative cloud industry ecosystem can benefit all players along the value chain. The key showcases include a public cloud service project with Deutsch Telecom, an e-government cloud services offering with Zhejiang Telecom and a demonstration with JiaYing Information on how to utilize carriers' open network capabilities to enhance integrated communications and better serve vertical industries.

Huawei has made significant progress in supporting the cloud transformation of carriers over the past few months. In June, it was selected by Deutsch Telecom as the partner to support the carrier’s cloud strategy development. In August, Huawei successfully signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Telecom to help enhance its cloud computing and big data capabilities. Leveraging its industry insights and experience in implementing transformation projects with over 400 carriers worldwide, Huawei is committed to supporting carriers by unleashing the potential of cloud computing to build a better connected world.
