Infonetics Reports 20% Increase in Huawei Optical Network Revenue for 2015 Q1

Updated:2015/6/3 15:19

Infonetics Research has just released its latest optical network market analysis report. According to this report, the global WDM market experienced a robust expansion in scale in this year's first quarter, reporting an up to 9% year–on-year increase. The WDM market is expected to grow to be worth USD 11 billion by the end of 2015 and USD 15.3 billion in 2019, and occupy 97% of the entire optical network market.

The burgeoning cost of 100G networks had represented a quarter of all WDM market costs in 2014 and is expected to further increase by at least 50% in 2015. Major beneficiaries of the WDM market include Huawei, Infinera, and Ciena. The global Metro WDM market is also launching to accompany the steady growth of Metro 100G networks. Several SONET/SDH investments have refocused on WDM equipment integrating OTN and packet functions.

In 2015 Q1, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, and Ciena were top 3 vendors in the optical network market. Huawei has benefited from large-scale deployment of its 100G OTN networks worldwide, leading to a 20% year-on-year increase in optical network revenue. Huawei ranks No.1 in the global optical network market for the sixth consecutive year with a market share of 22.6%, as well as in APAC (36.2%), EMEA (25.1%), and CALA (20.7%) market segments.
