The chairman of Huawei Device business Richard Yu said in an media interview: "many domestic competitors only pay patent fees to Qualcomm, but not other patent holders, this is very unfair for market, as well as to Huawei. The domestic competitors have to leave at least 10% of their sales revenue to pay the patent fees in addition to Qualcomm, but their net profits are rarely over 10%." This means that once the full payment of patent fees is required, the competitors will face large deficit condition.

Richard Yu insisted that most of China's smartphone vendors will “disappear from the earth” in the next 5 years, and only the top three will survive. "There were many aircraft manufactures, but right now only the Boeing and Airbus are giant ones. In the future, the survived globalized and large-scale mobile phone vendors will be few, we hope Huawei will be one of them."

In this year, Huawei is expected to sell 80 million smartphones, Richard Yu said that the shipments of Huawei smartphones will exceed 100 million in the next year, and it will compete vigorously with Apple and Samsung in the high-end markets.

December 17th is the independent operation anniversary of Huawei Internet brand "Honor". The president of Huawei Honor Liu Jiangfeng said at the meeting, the shipments of the Honor series have exceeded 20 million units, and the sales is almost $3 billion – which was only $100 million in 2013.

According to Liu Jiangfeng, the shipment of Huawei Honor smartphones are expected to be doubled to 40 million in the next year, and the sales will increase to $5 billion.

Richard Yu even said that Huawei Consumer business sales are expected to exceed $12 billion in 2014, which was $9 billion in the last year.
