Recently, in the live network of Hangzhou and Lishui, Zhejiang province, China Mobile and Huawei initiatively completed the VoLTE outfield trials, with a comprehensive verification of the VoLTE end-to-end commercial networking capability in 4G scale live network environments, and with focus on the voice service ability, combined with the existing services in the network, the trials verified the inheritance of the smart services and value-added services in the 4G era.
Since the second half of 2013, Huawei continued to lead the VoLTE infield and outfield trials of China Mobile, and accumulated rich experience for the planed converged communication commercial services including VoLTE that were to be launched by the end of 2014 by China Mobile.
As one of the important bases of China Mobile VoLTE commercial trials, outfield trials of China Mobile in Zhejiang was aimed to fully verify the commercial ability of VoLTE by building new VoLTE network and upgrading the existing VoBB network to support VoLTE .
On April 3rd of 2014, China Mobile began the new VoLTE network deployment, and Huawei provided integrated end-to-end commercial solutions including IMS Core, TAS, SBC, eMSC, DR and EPC. Only after 25 days, in April 28th, Huawei completed the network deployment and made VoLTE audio and video calls available.
On June 4th of 2014, China Mobile started the upgrading network deployment, and finished the upgrade of IMS Core and TAS of VoBB network in that night, with no impact on the VoBB existing service. On June 6th, China Mobile started the loading of VoLTE configuration data, with no interrupt of the LTE network and no impact on the users during the whole process, the upgrading commercial network deployment was completed within 70 hours, providing a series of new commercial services of VoLTE, including HD video call and eSRVCC switch, the three-way calling and other traditional supplementary services were also seamlessly inherited.
By the end of July 8th of 2014, Huawei is the only vendor that has completed the outfield trials in accordance with China Mobile’s commercial network requirements.
