AiDi Corporation has again advanced its Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) optical splitter technology and released a 1x128 PLC splitter product. By utilizing its patented waveguide design techniques, AiDi is reporting unprecedented insertion loss and PDL characteristics in a mass-producible product. The product is manufactured using the same methods that were qualified by Telcordia under the Verizon FOC-ITL requirements.
In Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) systems, an ultra-high port count splitter is especially important for urban centers, where density at the central office is critical for cost-effective deployments. By increasing the number of homes per Optical Line Termination (OLT), valuable space in the CO equipment rack can be used much more efficiently.
"After being first to market in 2007 with the 1x64 splitter, it is a natural next step to pave the way for the 1x128 market. Our waveguide design team is second to none when it comes to pushing these boundaries," says Kenzo Ishida, President and CEO of AiDi Corporation.
