Alcatel-Lucent names former Ofcom chief Carter as CMO

Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Stephen Carter, the former UK communications minister, as its new chief marketing, strategy and communications officer. Carter will be based at the company's headquarters in Paris, and will take up the position in April. Carter helped craft the Digital Britain Report last year while serving as minister for the communications, technology and broadcasting sector. Prior to that he was CEO of UK regulator Ofcom and managing director of UK cable operator NTL (now Virgin Media), as well as CEO of PR firm Brunswick and MD of marketing group J. Walter Thompson UK.
