Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Group (Datang Telecom Group), one of the major developers of China's 3G TD-SCDMA standard, will speed up business expansion in 2009 in a bid to suit demand from TD-SCDMA network operator China Mobile Limited (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL).
The telecommunications heavyweight will integrate its resources to back up China Mobile, which is scheduled to build up the largest mobile telecoms network across the country within three years, said an executive for the company.
In addition, Datang Telecom Group will strengthen R&D on TD-SCDMA technology upgrade and deepen cooperation with domestic and overseas partners.
As a company under the administration of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Datang Telecom Group is encouraged to help the TD-SCDMA network operator expand a nationwide network coverage, said Lou Qinjian, vice director for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
