Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. (ASB) and Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co., Ltd., the most successful combo in the bidding for China Mobile's phase II TD-SCDMA network construction project, will help the telecom carrier set up TD-SCDMA networks in 11 cities, the two companies jointly announced on December 17.
The cities include Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Changchun, Hefei, Guiyang, Kunming, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Yinchuan, and Urumchi.
China Mobile will totally invest more than CNY 30 billion in the phase II project, which covers 28 cities. In detail, CNY 18.279 billion will be used for base stations, CNY 2.611 billion for core networks, CNY 2.089 billion for transmission networks, CNY 1.828 billion for supporting networks, and CNY 1.306 billion for business networks.
According to the final result, Datang Mobile, together with Alcatel Shanghai Bell, gained 40% of the contracts, ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063, SEHK: 0763) 27%-28%, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. 17%-18%, Nokia Siemens Networks 7.5%, and Ericsson 4.5%.
