Airspan Wins Expansion WiMAX Contract With Multimedia in Poland

Updated:2008/12/10 14:00

Airspan Networks says that it has won a WiMAX expansion contract from Poland's Multimedia Polska, a provider of triple play services. This order for delivery in 2008 includes both fixed and mobile-ready base station equipment as well as Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) units.

Multimedia Polska originally selected Airspan in 2007 for a project to substitute an old radio access system working in the 2.4GHz band with a newer, more dependable and higher-capacity WiMAX network. This new expansion order is an opportunity to continue Multimedia's main goal of replacing CT2 and DECT systems with WiMAX. Airspan's WiMAX solutions give Multimedia Polska the ability to quickly expand broadband data and voice services in the area without the need for expensive and slow-to-build cable infrastructure.

"We are delighted at Multimedia's vote of confidence in Airspan's WiMAX solutions as evidenced by these additional orders. Multimedia Polska has an aggressive vision centered on differentiation and customer satisfaction -- this is a vision we share," said Anders Rendahl, Airspan's Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA.

Andrzej Rogowski, Multimedia Polska CEO, adds, "High quality residential and business voice and high-speed data are essential elements of our business. We look forward to a continued beneficial relationship with Airspan."
