Datang Mobile, ZTE, and Huawei Technologies acquired most of the market share in the bids for the second phase of TD-SCDMA trail network of China Mobile Communications Corporation, parent company of China Mobile (0941.HK; CHL.NYSE), said industrial consultant SanDianZiXun.
Eight providers, including Datang Mobile (united with Alcatel), ZTE, Huawei, Potevio, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, FiberHome Technologies, and New Postcom, participated the bids.
Since instruments used by FiberHome and New Postcom were from Datang Mobile, the three were considered as "Datang team".
In terms of screen number, Datang team took the lead and obtained 38-40 percent market share; Huawei won 17-18 percent; Nokia Siemens, some 8 percent; Potevio, 6 percent, and Ericsson, 4.5 percent, said SanDianZiXun.
According to previous announcement concerning the bids, the second phase of TD trial network construction would involve 28 provincial capital cities, establishing 230,000 wireless base stations and 160,000 wireless carriers, with the scale 1.53 times of the first phase.
Meanwhile, related equipments were requested to be capable of evolving to HSDPA and LTE standards, which were above 3.5G, smoothly through upgrade of software and hardware.
