Qualcomm Inc said on Wednesday that it had developed a reference design aimed at personal computer makers looking to design computers with high-speed wireless links for emerging markets.
The wireless chip developer said it would run trials using the Kayak design system in the first quarter of 2009 using computers from Taiwan-based Inventec Corp.
It said the system, which is based on Qualcomm chips would support wireless Web connections from networks based on W-CDMA, the world's most widely used high-speed wireless technology and CDMA, a standard which is popular in the United States.
