Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei) has been selected to help deploy the 3G network for Telefonica O2 Czech Republic, a Czech branch of Telefonica S.A. (NYSE: TEF), announced the Shenzhen-based telecommunications equipment provider on November 5.
Huawei will provide WCDMA/HSDPA network infrastructure and upgrade the existing 2G network across the Czech Republic for the integrated telecoms operator, according to contracts reached by the Shenzhen company and Telefonica O2 previously.
The cooperation with Huawei will enable Telefonica O2 to expand its high-speed mobile networks and provide more advanced services for users in the European country, said Salvador Anglada, chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman for Telefonica O2.
Notably, Huawei previously lured a contract from Germany-based mobile telecoms operator T-Mobile International to upgrade the latter's GSM network in Czech Republic.
The Shenzhen telecommunications equipment maker's product lineup includes mobile communications, next generation networks, access networks, switching networks, optical networks, multimedia communications, distribution frames and handsets products.
