Ericsson delivers WCDMA HSPA network to Kuzey Kibris Turkcell in northern Cyprus

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by the leading operator in northern Cyprus, Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell, a subsidiary of Turkcell, as the sole supplier of a WCDMA/HSPA network. The move will enable the operator to offer high-speed mobile broadband, including mobile internet, video calls and other advanced multimedia services to its subscribers. Under the agreement Ericsson will provide a WCDMA/HSPA network, including radio access and packet core network and the Ericsson Mobile Softswitch Solution. The agreement also includes Ericsson’s mobile backhaul solution with microwave and optical transport equipment. Ericsson will also provide professional services such as consulting and systems integration. Dağhan Fellahoğlu, General Manager at Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell, says: “This move will extend and upgrade our network with WCDMA/HSPA functionality, and cement our position as the leading local operator. It will also ensure our subscribers enjoy a richer communications experience, including advanced multimedia functionality and high-speed mobile broadband that enables anytime, anywhere access.
