Delta Telecom signs WiMAX contract with Alcatel-Lucent

Delta Telecom has inked a deal with Alcatel-Lucent for the provision of Azerbaijan's first commercial 802.16e mobile WiMAX network. The contract includes stationary, nomadic and mobile applications for sparsely populated areas where it is not cost effective to deploy fixed broadband services. Delta plans to launch commercial services on the network by the end of 2008. No financial details have been disclosed.
