ZTE says its CDMA-supply bid with China Telecom 'active'

ZTE Corp. said Wednesday it is still awaiting the status of its tender to supply code division multiple access equipment to China Telecom Corp., one China's big three telecom companies to provide fixed-line and wireless services once of an industry consolidation is completed. ZTE said China Telecommunication Corp., the parent company of China Telecom Corp, has yet to decide on how it will source its equipment needs. ZTE said reports in Chinese media that rival Huawei Technologies Co. had won 70% of a 10 billion yuan contract to supply CDMA equipment was baseless. China Telecom said last month its parent will invest 80 billion yuan over the next three years in the CDMA network.
