Ubidyne Inc. and Nokia Siemens Networks announced an agreement Thursday to develop a better cellular base station for commercial use.
Tempe-based Ubidyne will provide its active antenna for Espoo, Finland-based Nokia Siemens' Flexi Base Station. The antenna will support numerous older technologies as well as newer technologies, such as Long Term Evolution and WiMax. The communications hub also will use less power, officials said.
"We believe our innovative active antenna product and Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Base Station make a strong match that will meet the needs of operators seeking to invest in the future and gain immediate benefits through reduced costs," said Ken Hawk, CEO of Ubidyne.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
