Alcatel-Lucent to power GTD's FTTH network in Chile
Updated:2008/7/29 11:38
Chilean telecommunications company GTD has selected Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a FTTH network based on GPON technology. The installation and deployment of the GPON network is scheduled to start during the third quarter. The network will initially serve residential broadband users in the Santa Maria de Manquehue district, and will further be extended to other neighbourhoods in the capital, Santiago. GTD Manquehue – which serves residential customers and SMEs for the GTD Group – plans to use Alcatel-Lucent's technology to deliver advanced broadband services, including HDTV, IPTV, VoD and high-speed internet. Addtionally, Alcatel-Lucent's GPON architecture is designed to enable GTD Manquehue to migrate its traditional voice services to VoIP. Gtd Manquehue will deploy the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 Intelligent Services Access Manager Fibre-to-the-User (ISAM FTTU) and the Alcatel-Lucent 5520 Access Management System for element management.
