UTStarcom Inc. will help set up an interactive advertising system in China for Guangxi Telecom Co.
Alameda-based UTStarcom (NASDAQ: UTSI) didn't give a price in the deal with Guangxi Telecom, which is owned by Beijing-based China Telecom Corp. (NYSE: CHA).
Guangxi Telecom will use UTStarcom's Internet Protocol Television equipment in the advertising network, which will reach 14 cities. Set top boxes will be put into supermarkets, department stores, office buildings and elsewhere in the deal.
UTStarcom was started in 1991. Guangxi Telecom was started in 2003.
