Huawei’s IPTime – IP Transport Infrastructure for Mobile Evolution – and 40G transmission solution have won the 2008 InfoVision Award, the company announced today.
 
One of the most comprehensive packet mobile transport solution, Huawei’s IPTime Solution creates enhanced broadband experiences and TCO reductions in 2G/3G mobile networks for carriers. The solution is based on an ALL-IP architecture, according to the company, and improves transport efficiency to reduce costs and support abundant interfaces, such as microwave, fiber and copper.
 
This capability helps carriers to achieve smooth evolution from 2G technologies to 3G/HSPA. Huawei’ s IPTime Solution also boasts carrier-grade high reliability features to improve operation efficiency and reduce OPEX, company officials say.
 
The second award was presented to Huawei’s patented 40G SuperWDM technology that can achieve ultra-long haul transmission with different solutions depending on the application scenario, according to the company. The 40G transmission solution features C-band extension patent technology that can increase fiber transmission bandwidth by an extra 20 percent. The company’s officials claim this makes Huawei the only vendor with a transmission capacity of 3.84T – the largest in the industry.
 
IEC President John Janowiak said that the IEC’ s InfoVision Awards recognize the top broadband technologies in deployment today. He said that they are pleased to present Huawei with an award for its IPTime and 40G transmission solution in the Wireless Broadband category and core network innovation and advances category as the benefits it provides to operators are remarkable, company officials say.
 
Jeffery Gao,  vice president at Huawei, said his company’s delighted to have won InfoVision Awards for the past four consecutive years.
 
He said that it is recognition of Huawei’ s contribution to the ALL-IP broadband industry and the company’ s great success and growth in Asia Pacific over the years.
 
The award was presented at the Broadband World Forum Asia 2008. Huawei has been honored with InfoVision Awards, from the International Engineering Consortium, for the past four consecutive years in recognition of the superior performance and technical excellence of its products and solutions.
