Telecommunications equipment maker Huawei Technologies wins a contract to supply a WiMAX service to Malaysian network operator and WiMAX licence holder Asiaspace. The value of the contract was not disclosed. Huawei will design and install a network including base stations, gateways and management systems for Asiaspace. Huawei's new base stations will enable Asiaspace to roll out new services to its customers. Asiaspace plans to spend about MYR 500 million over the next three to five years to roll out the wireless broadband service. The company expects to roll out its service in Q3 and will cover 25 percent of the population in Peninsular Malaysia by 2008-end.
