Huawei overtakes Alcatel-Lucent in IP DSLAM port share, neck and neck for revenue in 1Q08
Updated:2008/6/13 14:05
Communications market research firm Infonetics Research reported today that Huawei took the lead from Alcatel-Lucent in worldwide IP DSLAM port market share in 1Q08, and is now less than one point behind Alcatel-Lucent for IP DSLAM revenue share. Infonetics' report, Broadband Aggregation Hardware and Subscribers, shows that despite Huawei's strong performance in the IP DSLAM segment this quarter, most IP DSLAM vendors were down in 1Q08, resulting in a 12% revenue decline in the overall segment. "2007 was the peak for annual IP DSLAM revenue, as market saturation and substitution with multiservice access platforms (MSAPs) take their toll on this category. MSAPs will see growth primarily in emerging markets such as India, as service providers increase deployments to support triple play services," said Mark Showalter, directing analyst for broadband networks at Infonetics Research. Other highlights from the report:
Infonetics' broadband aggregation report provides worldwide and regional forecasts, market size, and market share for MSAPs, next gen DLCs, and DSLAMs split by ATM vs. IP. DSL subscriber forecasts and port detail (ADSL, G.SHDSL, VDSL, PON OLT, Ethernet OLT, and DS0s) are included. Companies tracked include ADTRAN, Alcatel-Lucent, Calix, Ciena, Corecess, ECI, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Huawei, Iskratel, Millinet, Motorola, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks, Occam Networks, Paradyne, Samsung, Sumitomo, Teledata, Tellabs, UTStarcom, Woojyun, Zhone, ZTE, ZyXEL, and others.
