Ericsson Maintains Telefonica's Fiber Optical Network in Brazil

Ericsson will reportedly maintain the new fiber network of Brazilian operator Telefónica. The company has signed a three-year managed services contract with Telefónica that will allow the operator to reduce operational expenditure and focus on its core business.
Ericsson will be responsible for supervising and providing preventive and corrective maintenance services for Telefónica's fiber network in São Paulo state and will allow the Brazilian operator to not only reduce costs but also streamline network management and operations. In addition, it will enable shorter time to market for new services as well as ensure customers of their high quality.
Johan Wibergh, president, Ericsson Brazil expressed his company’s pride to be chosen by Telefónica and entrusted with the end-to-end supervision and maintenance of its optical fiber network. He believes this partnership reaffirms Ericsson's multivendor capabilities and reinforces their market leadership in managed services.

Ericsson boasts a comprehensive managed services offering ranging from designing, building, operating and managing day-to-day operations of a customer's network. Ericsson manages end user services and business support systems, hosts service applications and content, as well as provides network coverage and capacity on demand.
