Nokia Siemens ties-up with ACME for energy-efficient services
Updated:2008/3/20 13:45
Communications services provider Nokia Siemens Networks today entered into a global tie-up with technology solutions firm ACME Tele Power to provide energy-efficient radio cell site solutions to telecom operators.
As per the alliance, the companies would jointly explore new environmental-friendly initiatives that offer long-term operational expenditure benefits to operators, a joint statement said. The two companies would also establish a joint development lab in the country to examine future opportunities, specifically around remote energy monitoring solutions, it added. The companies would create customised solutions that improve networks environmental performance and positively impact customers competitiveness and profitability. "We are looking forward to working with ACME in emerging markets where the ability to provide cost-effective rural connectivity is the key," Nokia Siemens Networks Managed Services Head Ashish Chowdhary said. ACME Tele Power''s Managing Director Manoj Upadhyay said the company has devised a wide range of products and solutions that effectively address the cost efficiency and energy management challenges that typically face operators in these markets. A significant portion of total cell site costs can be directly linked to energy, especially in emerging markets. Energy savings go straight to the bottomline, with a consequently positive impact on operator financials.
