Alcatel Shanghai Bell''s A1000 SGSN certified by MII

Updated:2006/9/5 09:26

Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB) announced today that its A1000 SGSN Version U3 was awarded the telecom equipment Network Access License (NAL) by China''s Ministry of Information Industry (MII).

Certification by the MII means the equipment can be widely deployed commercially in China. SGSN (Serving GPRS Support Node), which connects base station subsystems
and the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) core network, is the key equipment in the GPRS solution.

SGSN performs the mobility, security, data session management and fee calculation functions for GPRS. One frame of ASB''s A1000 SGSN has the capacity to support 1 mln users. With its compact structure, the solution simplifies the management and
maintenance by telecom operators. The SGSN solution supports the switch between 2G and 3G and can guarantee smooth transition to 3G.

MII started the testing for the NAL certification in March 2006. ASB passed all tests on MAP signaling, HLR equipment function, OMC and E1 interface.
