Chen Wei, president of China Mobile Research Institute for IoT said recently that China Mobile takes Internet of Everything (IoE) as group-level strategic business, aiming to realize 5 billion connections.
Statistics from related institution tells that M2M connections will hit 50 billion globally by 2020 including 970 million cellular-based connections which occupy a tiny market share, coming as a huge challenge to the operators.
Chen Wei raised the issue of serious fragmentation in IoT, which reflects in the lack of standards and leaders. China Mobile intends to do a good job in several vertical fields including transportation, smart home, security monitoring and intelligence investment.
