China Telecom's esurfing develops brand-new IoT strategies

According to the 1Q16 financial reports of China's three major operators, net profits of the operating revenue have leveled off due to the saturation of subscribers. Restricted by the industry competition and impacted by "improving the speed and cutting down the tariff", the operators tend to put more efforts into new business transformation with IoT as the first priority.

In order to seize the opportunity, China Telecom's esurfing has developed brand-new IoT strategies - aiming to guarantee a 12 million net addition of subscribers by building an IoT intensive operation system in 2016 with a subsidy of CNY 304 million.

"In 2016, esurfing IoT will further improve the IoT business level and include it in the strategic basic business, and we will focus on six industries with intensive professional operation," the official added.

Esurfing IoT will redefine the subscribers and convert limited connections between people into infinite connections between things and between people and things. At the same time, esurfing will take IoT business into the existing mega-network production systems. With an intensive IoT operation architecture, esurfing IoT will achieve a net increase of 12 million subscribers in 2016.

The official of China Telecom told C114, China Telecom will take the lead in IoT development. To achieve this, it will speed up its 4G networks and optical broadbands, make breakthroughs in IoT, esurfing HD, Internet +, esurfing pay, cloud and big data and open the network basic capacity, network operation capacity, data operation capacity, channel sales capacity, customer service capacity and competent personnel training capacity.

Intensive operation

The official said China Telecom IoT has dedicated segments - "149" which has voice functions and suitable for Car Networking and "10649" without voice functions. It will achieve intensive development and cooperation of the products and realize unified tariff and service system through one network and one IT nationwide.

In addition, China Telecom will subsidize esurfing IoT CNY 304 million, significantly promoting the scale development of IoT.
