Updated:2016/4/22 11:29

China Mobile reported earnings results for 1Q16 on April 20th.

China Mobile reported first quarter revenue of CNY 177.5 billion, an increase of 8.7% over the year-ago quarter. The revenue of its communication services is CNY 151.6 billion with a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; the profit attributable to shareholders hits CNY 23.9 billion with a year-on-year increase of 0.5%.

The data shows China Mobile has added 7.61 million new subscribers in Q1 and the total hits 834 million. 4G subscribers increase 64.23 million, reaching 377 million; 3G subscribers reach 153 million.

Thanks to the sound development of 4G subscribers, the mobile traffic data consumption has risen 148% year-on-year and the income structure has been further improved. In addition, ARPU for Q1 is CNY 57.6, improving a little over last year.

China Mobile pointed out its income growth has rebounded compared with last year, which is caused by: income growth is no longer affected by "replacing the business tax with a value-added tax" policy adjustment since this year; the tariff concessions and promotions in the end of last year stimulate subscribers to consume in 1Q16; sales of 4G devices continues to grow rapidly.
