China Mobile released the financial results of 2015 on March 17th. At the press conference of financial results, China Mobile estimated its capital expenditure for 2016 will be CNY 186.2 billion, of which expenditure on 4G network will hit CNY 75.7 billion, fixed broadband will be CNY 11.2 billion, transmission network will be CNY 39 billion. According to the plan, 4G base stations of China Mobile is estimated to reach 1.4 million this year.
The total capital expenditure of China Mobile has reduced for two consecutive years after a record - CNY 215.1 billion in 2013. Its capital expenditure in 2014 hit CNY 195.6 billion including CNY 79.1 billion for 4G network.
Shang Bing, chairman of China Mobile pointed out that with the improvement of 4G network coverage, capital expenditure of China Mobile will greatly decline. The rental cost of towers for a year will be CNY 35 billion and China Mobile will continue to increase sharing of towers and reduce operation cost this year.
