Ma Jingxin, vice general manager of China Mobile Terminal said on Monday that to accelerate the development of 4G subscribers and the popularization of "4G+" services, VoLTE will become a standard on the devices of China Mobile in 2016, and CA will become a standard on its devices of which the price is above CNY 1,500.
The total number of China Mobile's subscribers has reached 824 million by October this year, including 267 million 4G subscribers with penetration exceeding 30%. This means that China Mobile has an additional capacity of 4G market of more than 500 million subscribers at least, and how to make them migrate to 4G network becomes the focus of the current work.
Ma Jingxin also said 4G smartphones of China Mobile with network access license have reached 772 models by November, accounting for 81% of all the 4G models. And the operator has sold 256 million TD-LTE devices by October, accounting for over 70% in the 4G device market, and it is estimated that the number will reach 300 million this year.
He said that China Mobile will release the VoLTE/CA devices of its self-owned brand in CNY 1,000 level in 2016. Meanwhile, VoLTE will be a required purchased item for China Mobile since January 1st,2016 and CA will be a required purchased item since May 1st for the device which is over CNY 1,500..
Li Huidi, vice president of China Mobile, also said at China Mobile Global Partners Conference 2015 that the sales of TD-LTE devices is expected to reach 330 million units in 2016, including more than 100 million devices which support VoLTE and CA.
