China Unicom will invest CNY 10.2 billion to build a ¡°full optical network¡± in Henan province

On September 8th, Henan provincial government and China Unicom signed the “full optical network of Henan” strategic cooperation agreements in Zhengzhou, China Unicom will invest CNY 10.2 billion in 2015 and make Henan the first full optical network province by the end of the year.

According to the agreements, China Unicom will build an “full optical network” Henan province by the end of 2015, the urban areas of all the cities and county cities will achieve 100% fiber network coverage, and 85.2% for the administrative villages. 96% of the families in urban regions of Zhengzhou and Luoyang are capable of 100 Mbps optical fiber broadband access capacity, while 89% families are capable in other cities and county cities.
 
During the construction of “full optical network Henan”, China Unicom will promote the carrying out of "improve the speed and cut down the tariff" program. For the original 2 Mbps, 4 Mbps, 6 Mbps broadband users, the network speed can be raised to 8 Mbps freely, and the speed can reach 50 Mbps at most. By the end of 2015, 6.5 million broadband users are expected to enjoy this service freely.
