In the recently held 2015 LTE network innovation seminar, the vice president of China Mobile Research Institute Huang Yuhong said that China Mobile’s goal for VoLTE commercialization is to complete the preparation work by the end of this year, and each city will conduct commercialization based on their local conditions. At the same time, there will be more than 20 models of mobile phones that support VoLTE.
On the evolution of 4G network, she believed that the most important thing is to improve its peak speed at present. One important technology is the carrier aggregatio(CA). At present, China Mobile has upgraded multiple local networks to support the speed of 220Mbps , some areas have been testing above 300Mbps speed.
In the terms of devices and chips, more and more devices are able to support higher speed. China Mobile believes that network should be virtualized and software-oriented in the future, SDN and NFV are important technologies of the future network evolution.
In the research work of 5G, China Mobile will focus on four aspects, such as brand new technology ideas (subscriber-oriented network, software definition, etc.); industrialization of 5G; promote the world to achieve a united distribution of spectrum resources and research of 5G markets.
