China Telecom announced its cloud computing business revenue for the first time

China Telecom recently announced its performance of 1H2015. During the period, the operating revenue reached CNY 164.953 billion, in which the service revenue was CNY 147.022 billion, with a steady and better growth rate than the industry average growth rate; the net profit was CNY 10.980 billion, with a decrease of 4.0% than the same period of last year, and the net income per share was 0.14 yuan. The capital expenditure was CNY 36.7 billion and free cash flow was CNY 10.5 billion.

China Telecom pointed out in its financial statement, the operator will further enrich  its cloud computing product line. China Telecom will continue to broaden the cloud applications and services on the basis of providing safe and reliable cloud based resources. The number of world's leading enterprise customers has rapidly increased and the revenue of cloud computing services reached CNY 470 million in the first half of 2015, with an increase of 54%.

This is also the first time that China Telecom announced its cloud computing services revenue, and highlights China Telecom's confidence for the perspective of cloud computing industry.

One interesting thing is that Alibaba's Aliyun also announced its performance for the first time in this year, the revenue reached CNY 485 million in the second quarter of 2015, with a rapid increase of 106% over the same period of last year, it also became the business with the fastest revenue growth rate in Alibaba. However, we are not clear with the statistical caliber of cloud computing services of China Telecom and Aliyun, therefore they can’t be compared directly.
