Updated:2015/8/13 10:37

According to the disclosed information of China Unicom, its 31 provincial branches all have launched free broadband speed-up programs by the end of July, and carried out implementation at the same time, which effectively improved the network speed and reduced the unit broadband tariff. At present, 16.016 million users have benefited from this program, while 55 million users are expected to benefit from this program throughout the year.

Specifically, for broadband users with below 10 Mbps network rate, the network will be speeded up to 10Mbps for free, for the uses of copper lines which can’t be speeded up to 10 Mbps, it should be rose to the fasted speed that it supports and speed up to 10 Mbps when the line is replaced by optical fiber; for the above 10 Mbps broadband users, the network speed should be improved freely to a faster level, such as 10 Mbps speeded up to 20 Mbps, 20 Mbps to 50 Mbps and 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

29 provincial branches (Hainan and Ningxia will reduce the tariffs in the near future) have lowered the 20Mbps, 50Mbps and 100Mbps broadband access tariff on the basis of local situations. By the end of July, 1.964 million users have benefited from this measure.

In addition, by reducing the tariffs through integrated tariff packages including smart WO home and other packages, by the end of July, the prices of 20M services have fell by 36%, 50M by 38% and 100M by 37%.

In all-optical network aspect, China Unicom put focus on the building of all-optical provinces and cities, basically achieving 20Mbps in the urban areas and 8 Mbps in the rural regions, creating two all-optical provinces, 52 all-optical cities and 592 all-optical county towns in northern China regions.
