At the recently held media communication conference, China Unicom revealed that it was trying to promote the 4G construction with all its strength, the number of base stations was expected to exceed 1.2 million by the end of 2015.
This means that China Unicom has greatly accelerated its base station construction plan. According to the data, the number of base stations was 565,000 at the end of last year, and China Unicom planned to build about 359,000 base stations in this year, reaching 924,000 by the end of this year, while the latest plan almost doubled.
This number includes both 4G and 3G base stations. Different from China Mobile and China Telecom, China Unicom continues to build its 3G network, especially to strengthen the coverage of rural areas.
China Unicom said it will put more efforts to improve its 4G network, on the basis of seamless coverage in the urban areas, county cities and developed towns, it will continue to improve the depth of coverage and create high-quality and high-speed data seamless service experiences, and consolidate the leading advantages in mobile broadband field.
