SK Telecom announced that it has signed a sales contract with C.I. Nextrading Ltda, a Columbia-based distributor of imported products , to supply 36,000 units of its smart robot ‘Albert’ to be sold in the South American markets, including Brazil and Colombia.

Smart robot Albert, launched in December 2012, is SK Telecom’s first kids learning robot that uses a smartphone as its brain to provide diverse interactive games and educational contents. Together with its sister model‘Atti’, the cute, friendly-looking robot is making learning more fun and easier for children around the globe.

The program is currently being operated in many countries around the world, including Korea, Spain (Telefonica, Telentum School), France (Ministere de L’ Education Nationale, Smart School), Taiwan (CnP Advisory International, Arbert & Atti School) and Malaysia (MARA, Robotics).

Moreover, the company has also provided a children’s training course utilizing a smart robot at the Mobile Explorers’ Club organized by the GSMA at this year’s Mobile World Congress.

“The export of our smart robot Albert and its related software education program Smart Coding School to South America highlights the global competitiveness of SK Telecom’s smart robots as well as increasing interest in and importance of coding education,” said Yook Tae-sun, Executive Vice President and Head of New Business Division at SK Telecom. “Going forward, we will make ceaseless efforts to develop and further upgrade our Coding School’s training contents and programs with the aim to offer innovative coding education to the children around the world.”
