Updated:2015/3/23 09:54

In the 2014 annual performance news conference, the President of China Mobile Li Yue said that China Mobile has completed layout of VoLTE technology in 5 domestic cities, and VoLTE network is expected to be launched by the end of this year, by which time the whole country can enjoy the related services.

Li Yue also said that China Mobile will integrate its five major business to form an internet company, so as to deal with the descending of voice calls and other traditional business, as well as the negative effects that brought by OTT. The Internet company may be listed someday.

In addition, after MIIT issued FDD LTE licenses to China Telecom and China Unicom, China Mobile also officially proposed application for FDD LTE license. Li Yue said, as the TD-LTE network of China Mobile supports hybrid networking and is compatible with both TDD and FDD standards, so it didn’t need large-scale investment in network construction if the FDD LTE license was issued, "unless the government required that TDD frequency spectrum cannot be compatible with FDD".

In just two days ago, the Chairman of China Telecom Wang Xiaochu said that he was worried about the fierce market competition brought by China Mobile if it got the FDD LTE license.

According to the 2014 annual report of China Mobile, its 4G subscribers have exceeded 90 million in 2014 and promoted the rapid development of traffic data business, which increased 115.1% compared with last year, and the revenue achieved a year-on-year growth of 42.9%, which became the main driving force of China Mobile's revenue growth. While the “injured” China Telecom has repeatedly pointed out in 2014 that its decline of subscribers was due to the “LTE services and strengthened marketing of other operators, which intensified the market competition”.

The 2015 annual capital expenditure of China Mobile is CNY199.7 billion, which declines 6.5% than last year. The spending on mobile communication network and transmission network will be of 39% and 33%, respectively, the specific investment in 4G network is CNY 72.2 billion, with a year-on-year 10.4% decline, but still ranks in the first place among the three operators.
