During the NPC and CPPCC, the chairman of China Mobile Xi Guohua said in an interview, he is full of confidence in TD-LTE technology. In his view, even China Telecom and China Unicom have obtained FDD licenses, it has only a little impact on China Mobile.
Xi Guohua said that China Mobile is confident about TD-LTE through last year’s development, TD-LTE has been maturing in system technologies, industry chains and mobile Internet bearing ability.
"When such a big network was built, TD-LTE technologies could PK with FDD LTE. Second, whether the technologies are good or not depends on the market, especially the maturity of the industry, we planned to provide 200 types of 4G mobile phones by the end of last year, but we provided 1000 indeed, of which over 60% are of 1000-yuan level, which is good for our popularization and promotion. Third, the TDD technologies are still of advantage:the asymmetric design that is more suitable for mobile Internet."
But Xi Guohua also disclosed that China Mobile has applied for FDD LTE license to the MIIT. "We want a license for the integration of networking trials, if the TDD frequency spectrums are run out, we can also use the FDD spectrums. The second reason is that if we could do well in the integration of networking trials, then the other countries could use this technology more boldly."
In talking about this year’s plan, Xi Guohua said, as the biggest telecom operator in China, the priority in this year is to carry out depth indoor and outdoor 4G coverage in both cities and rural regions, which is expected to fully enhance the network quality. At the same time, the tariff of 4G traffic data and voice calls will be declined, and the reduction are determined according to different packages.
