Recently the China Tower Alliance was formally established, which was co-founded by China Association of Communications Enterprises, China Tower Company, telecom facility serving enterprises, scientific research institutes, universities, as well as branches of China Tower Company.
Director of the development department of the MIIT Wen Ku said at the founding conference, by the end of last year, 4G base stations has reached 733,000 and 3G base stations were 1.284 million in domestic. The three major telecom operators, namely China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, have reduced to build 29,000 base stations and 18,000 towers by co-construction and sharing, which directly saved CNY 6 billion in the investment.
The general manager of China Tower Company Tong Jilu said, "According to the requirements of development and reform goals, the company will generally adhere to the 'three steps' strategy. The first is from January 1st of this year, the Tower Company will undertake the construction of new telecom facilities of the three major operators. The second is that the Tower Company is expected to complete the inventory receiving work of stock infrastructure assets in the three major operators by the end of August, at which time the company's assets will reach CNY 300 billion. The third is based on these achievements, the company will actively explore the mixed ownership reform and choose a chance to be listed."
