Virtual operator Suning Mobile said that its subscribers of mobile resale service have exceeded 500,000 by the end of 2014. Previously, data of CAICT showed that subscribers of MVNOs in China exceeded 1.8 million.
Only 20 of the 42 licensed enterprises have started number allocation publicly. As for full number allocation, only a few enterprises were available, such as Suning, Alibaba, Jingdong mall, Gome, Bus online and Snail Mobile. The rest pilot enterprises are still in internal testing stage.
Deputy general manager of Suning Mobile Wang Shuai said in an interview, "after one-year pilot stage, many virtual operators have found business models and development paths of their own, it’s expected that more virtual operators will come into operation in the future, and the business model won’t be limited to the current mobile resale service simply."
