3G speed of China Unicom Guangdong Branch increased by at least 50% to 63Mbps

Updated:2014/12/2 10:29

According to informed sources, China Unicom conducted a 3G speed-up test recently: China Unicom Guangdong Branch jointly with Huawei and Qualcomm have completed the first HSPA+ 63Mbps live network trial, which used the latest version of Huawei's equipment (UMTS RAN16) and a smart device with Qualcomm snapdragon chip. This network test means that the global 3G speed has set a new record, the download speed reaches 63Mbps, which is 50% faster than the fastest existing 3G speed and upload speed increased 100%.

This trial includes 3C-HSDPA (three carriers download) and DC-HUSPA (double carriers upload) characteristics of WCDMA HSPA+ network, covering business trials of the user rate, time delay, state migration, mobility and integration business, all the trial contents succeeded in one test, indicating that the 3C-HSDPA and DC-HUSPA characteristics of network and devices have fully reached commercial maturity.

Compared with the 42Mbps DC-HSDPA, the collocation of 3C-HSDPA and DC-HSUPA, a typical mobile broadband MBB service, will reduce more than 30% of the time delay.

Since 2014, China Unicom Guangzhou Branch has been extensively developing the collaborative advantages of 3G and 4G networks, it reached tri-100% coverage of towns, highways and above 3A level scenic spots with 4G network on the basis of creating a best-experiencing 3G network. It is expected that the network coverage rate of 4G will catch up with 3G by the end of this year, which will bring pleasant 4G experience for citizens in Guangzhou.

Guangdong has always been the experimental field of operators, but whether China Unicom will spread the 3G speed upgrading technologies in the nationwide is still unclear.
