China Telecom and China Unicom are rumored to apply for third batch of 4G hybrid networking trial

Updated:2014/10/24 09:44

As revealed by informed resource, after the first two batch of TDD/FDD-LTE hybrid networking trials in 40 cities, China Telecom and China Unicom have applied for the third batch of 4G TDD/FDD hybrid networking trial, planning to increase 237 cities, but it is still unclear when will it be approved.

Previously 40 cities were approved in the first two batches that China Unicom and China Telecom have applied, namely 16 cities in the first batch and 24 in the second, iPhone 6 of China Unicom and China Telecom have been on sale recently, users in these cities will be able to use 4G networks soon.

Apparently, even their 4G service are available in the 40 cities, it’s still far away to meet the needs from customers, therefore, the two operators have been applying to conduct TDD/FDD-LTE hybrid networking trials in more cities.

As reported, the new planned cities basically include the prefecture-level cities in most provinces in China, but there are still situations where only one or two cities are declared for TDD/FDD hybrid networking 4G trials in several provinces, for example, only Lhasa is in the list of declared cities in Tibet, as well as Sanya in Hainan and Baotou in Inner Mongolia.

However, the informed resource also said, how many cities in the third batch will eventually be approved is still unclear, just like the first batch of cities, both China Telecom and China Unicom originally declared 25 cities, but they were both approved only 16 in the end.
