Recently, in order to facilitate the mass subscribers with need for communication in different regions, China Telecom launched a one-card-double-number business in domestic, which can achieve the containing of two mobile phone numbers belonging to different provinces in one UIM card, the two numbers are both available for making phone calls, sending and receiving text messages without changing the UIM card or adding a new one. The launch of this business can greatly facilitate migrant population like workers and university students.
As we have learnt, the one-card-double-number business refers to opening two digital mobile phone numbers in one UIM card, in which one number is called primary number, and the other is called the virtual number. The users can switch the number through the menu in the mobile phone, and can choose anyone to make phone calls, this provides the subscribers with personalized communication styles and can meet the needs of subscribers with different phone numbers in different regions at different time.
In the one-card-double-number business launched by China Telecom, in addition to the existing Tianyi number, subscribers can apply for another one without change the UIM card or add a new one, let alone changing a new mobile phone. As reported, both the primary number and virtual number can normally send and receive text messages and make phone calls, when subscribers make calls or send messages to the mobile subscribers or fixed-line users of the region that the virtual number attributes to, it will automatically use the virtual number, but it will use the primary number in other situations.
But attentions should be paid that, the virtual number is limited to mobile phone numbers attributed to different provinces, and it can’t receive or send MMS, nor can used as accounts for mobile Internet access or WiFi, as well as value-added services and packages, it also can’t be charged with recharge cards.
In the Tariff, a one-time service provisioning fee of 10 yuan is charged, the monthly basic costs is 1 yuan, including 10 minutes of voice calls, the preferential tariff is 0.1 yuan/min when subscribers make phone calls in local or domestic to the mobile subscribers or fixed line users of the virtual number attributed regions, and 0.1 yuan for each text messages, the tariff will be charged through the original Tianyi number. The 10 yuan one-time service provisioning fee will be free if subscribers open this service before December 31st of 2014.
As the investigation data shows, there are about 250 million floating population in China at present, in which the university subscribers are 24 million, making a large market scale in floating population, so do the demands for one-card-double-number business launched by China Telecom, which will bring convenience and benefits for this group of people.
