Recently in a public occasion, China Mobile vice president Li Zhengmao said, big data is of great strategic significance for the operators in transformation and upgrading. China Mobile also did some positive exploration and practice in the R&D, industrial cooperation and foreign applications of big data.
In the independent R&D fields, China Mobile launched the Big Cloud research program in 2007, and constructed core abilities of mass storage processing, data analysis and mining. So far, relevant products of the Big Cloud has conducted more than 100 pilot and commercial applications in 17 provinces and cities, the deployment was of more than 3000 servers and a storage of 17 PB, it could response to market demand in a timely manner, and also reduced the operation cost of the enterprises at the same time.
In this year, China Mobile set up an R&D center in Suzhou, which plans to construct an R&D team and operation team of 3000-4000 people, the purpose is to furtherly improve the products system of cloud computing and big data, forming an international first-class service ability of cloud computing and big data as soon as possible.
