China Mobile Shanghai Branch opened over 5,000 4G base stations with an investment of CNY 15 billion

Recently, China Mobile Communication Corporation Shanghai co., LTD (China Mobile Shanghai Branch) celebrated its 15th anniversary of its founding, president of China Mobile Xi Guohua attended this activity.

During the ceremony C114 learned that, up to now, China Mobile Shanghai Branch has launched about 5,000 base stations in 4G network, with a basic coverage of the main downtowns inside the outer ring, the suburb centers outside the outer ring, as well as the Shanghai free trade zone, it is estimated that, over 10,000 base stations will be built by the end of this year, covering 90% of the populations in Shanghai.

According to the strategic co-operation framework agreement in building a smart city, which is signed by the China Mobile Shanghai Branch and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, China Mobile will continuously invest CNY 15 billion in Shanghai during 2014-2016, with an emphasis in three fields.

First, the comprehensive improvement of the information infrastructure level—build a national model district of high-quality 4G network in Shanghai, which is in support of the construction of “i-shanghai”, strengthen the construction of information infrastructure in important regions such as the SFTZ, complete the coverage of network lines in the 7,000 main business buildings and new-built residential districts; the establishment of a high-tech green data center in harbor areas.

Second, support the innovative transformation development of Shanghai—the development of informationlized subjects, such as smart medical care, safe campus, smart transportation, etc., the carry out of new and modern E-commerce business, such as NFC smartphone payment.

Third, the spread of smart applications—build a first class comprehensive informational service platform, and develop new users of mobile internet, assist the government in exploring new modes in city management and social governance, improve the informational level of governmental affairs, further deepen the carrying out of the ten citizen-benefit service measures.
