According to the source, China Unicom recently said it is going to found a new venture capital company in a statement. The move is motivated by the opportunities that created by the rise of mobile Internet industry. The aim is to expand emerging markets and make new growth point.
China Unicom venture capital company is an important constituent part of China Unicom Innovation System and it’s also an attempt for a strategy shift to blend in mobile Internet era, said the document.
While in this field, China Unicom is not a forerunner. In 2013, China Telecom first set up Tianyi venture capital company. The company adopted professional “Incubation Mode” which efficiently linked China Telecom and external resources together. It also created business startups opportunities for ambitious people.
Perhaps it is Tianyi’s great success that attracted the latter’s imitation.
